Erica & Alex: The Quintessential PNW Wedding

Every wedding photographer who lives in Washington State gets over the moon excited when they find out they’re going to be able to capture a woodsy, whimsical, fairy lit field, teepee covered, dancing in the grass until long after dusk wedding. And this one was exactly that. Erica and Alex were two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. Both so genuine and so genuinely happy about becoming official parts of each other’s family. And speaking of family, I think their families were just as genuinely happy as they were.

This was the perfect PNW wedding and I don’t know if anything will top the warm wind perfectly pulling on everyone’s hair, or the image of these two walking off into the distance in a field of trees, teepees, and twilight. I left about an hour into the dancing portion of the evening and I will not soon be able to forget the sound and the sight of all of those twinkly lights, dancing figures, and the sound of laughter and clinking glasses as I looked in my rear view mirror.

This was a beyond beautiful day that I know no one who attended will easily forget.

Vivek & Neeti: A Stunning Seattle Courthouse Wedding

When most people hear courthouse wedding, I don’t think their first thoughts are stunning scenic backdrops, beautiful white light spilling in through tall windows, and a gorgeous rooftop ceremony location. But let me tell you - this Seattle Courthouse wedding had all of the above and it was nothing short of stunning. Courthouse weddings can be tricky because once the happy couple checks in, you don’t know when you’re name is going to be called for your ceremony slot! Which means figuring out where and how far away to do portraits can be a nail biter! But this particular day, we got lucky. VIvek and Neeti were the LAST couple for the evening so we had lots of opportunities to explore the courthouse inside and out and take some beautiful portraits for these two. I somehow always get so incredibly lucky to have couples who LOVE TO LAUGH.

Vivek and Neeti held their reception at a gorgeous glass blowing studio in Belltown. It was an intimate reception with live glass blowing, lots of delicious food, and a beautiful Seattle sunset to enjoy when you stepped outside.

Claire & Clayton: A Log Cabin In The Woods

Woods? Check. Log Cabin? Check. Twinkly lights? Check. Literally all you need for a perfectly perfect wooded wedding. I remember walking into the smaller cabin the girls were getting ready in and opening the door to champagne, laughter, and a warm golden light that you only really find in cabins. It was so cozy and beautiful and I was lucky enough to be surrounded by so many beautiful and happy people.

This was a Winter early so the sun set quickly, but it only made everything go on inside more beautiful. We captured some stunning wedding party portraits just as the sun was dipping below the ocean and then took the party inside again all the twinkly lights and it was. just. stunning.

The one thing that I will never forget from this wedding was the DANCING. I’ve never met so many people in a group of people who could all dance UH-mazingly. Not kidding, sometimes I had to remind myself to stop staring and start snapping! I just could not look away. It was so fun to watch and be a part of and these two families blended together so well - it was beautiful.

Allie & David: The Cutest Little Chapel

I don’t know if I’m insanely lucky but it seems like every single couple whose wedding day I get to share in is just beyond sweet. Allie and David gathered all their families and friends on a typical slightly drizzly Seattle afternoon at the adorable Ruston Chapel. Just take a look at that iconic door. After they exchanged their vows and shared a few sweet moments in front of the chapel door in front of their friends and family, we all made our way down to the Rose Gardens at the Point Defiance Zoo.

Allie, David and I wound our way through several of the wooded pathways in the gardens to find these locations for their wedding portraits. I love how photography can completely transform a space. That photo with the giant tree on the bridge, I would swear that’s in some massive forest on the Olympic Peninsula or in California. But nope. It was about a two minute walk from the main street that leads through the parking lot and right off a heavily trafficked walking trail. But you wouldn’t know that looking at it!

This couple also forever changed my views on what a wedding dinner should look like. Guys. Breakfast for dinner. What the actual f. Why have I never thought of this or witnessed this. Everybody loves breakfast! Such an awesome idea and Thyme Well Spent catering really delivered.

Oh AND this bride made her own cake. And it’s not a hodge podge mess that I would make. It’s a stunning, beautiful, scrumptious looking cake. That’s some talent right there. Had a fantastic day mingling with this fun group and was happy to send them off out of this rain and right on to their sunny Hawaii honeymoon.

Sabrina & Jason: Beautiful Backyard Portraits

Let’s first address the elephant in the room. How beautiful is this bride? I met these two at their aunt and uncle’s house in West Seattle and I arrived before them. So I was tinkering around the backyard, checking out the view and scoping out possible portrait spots. When these two arrived, I’m not going to lie, Jason may as well have been invisible for about ten full seconds because I could not get over how stunning Sabrina is!

It goes without saying that photographing these two was easy as pie. I only spent a few hours with these two but it went by so quickly! They were both so photogenic I didn’t want to stop snapping shots of these two.

Loutsis' Reception: A Sweet Family Gathering With A Sweet Surprise

This sweet couple was actually married in April but didn’t get a chance to have a ceremony/reception that they wanted in the Spring, so when Summer rolled around they planned this adorable outdoor ceremony that was intimate, touching and full of smiles.

But if you can believe it, the smiles weren’t even the best part. When they did the cutting of their cake later in the evening, which unfortunately I missed out on, they had a surprise gender reveal! They had conceived on their honeymoon which allowed them to get everyone together not only to celebrate their union but also to celebrate the new addition to their family they are welcoming into the world together.

Had such a blast working with this tight knit group of jokesters. It’s always such a blast working with people who love to laugh.

Kenani & Warren: A Mid-Summer Backyard Wedding

When my friends, Kenani and Warren, asked me to photograph their wedding - I was thrilled. They're such laid back and happy people, they're one of those couples that is always laughing. And I couldn't wait to be a part of their special day.

It was beyond impressive how quickly they got this entire backyard (HUGE backyard, I might add) wedding setup the morning of. Successful? Yes. Terrifying? Also, yes.

But it turned out to be a beautiful boho backyard wedding that was full of laughs, drinks, family, drinks, dancing, and drinks. Congrats to the beautiful bride and groom!
