FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Our approach walks the line between being very hands on and completely hands off. One of our priorities for the day is to ensure that you have the best light, for every scene of your wedding day. We also prefer to help build the timeline together with your planner and designer to ensure that we not only have ample time to capture all of your desired moments throughout the day with buffers to make sure you have a smooth experience. We utilize prompt guidance and directing, editorial styled shots, and authentically capturing raw moments that happen organically through documentary style wedding coverage. The end result is a cohesive and thoughtful gallery filled with a balance of emotion, details, ambiance and love.

  • This is our most frequently asked question, and oddly enough, the one I never think to address. Our couple's feeling uncomfortable, or even clueless, in front of the camera is such a non-issue that it's not even on my radar to worry about.

We will provide you with prompts, action items, and guide you through the entire process. While we lean towards natural guides and prompts, allowing you two to fully be yourselves at your session - we can (and will) absolutely put you exactly where you need to be if that makes you more comfortable. Do not worry about feeling awkward or inexperienced at all. We've got you.

  • I feel like, if you've found your way to our little corner of the internet and have gotten this far - you may already know the answer to this. YES! We travel everywhere and anywhere. It is one of our number one passions. In fact, more than 80% of our bookings are from outside of our home state.

  • Yes! Domestic travel is included within our base collection price and additional fees would only be incurred for added engagement sessions, additional days of coverage, etc.

Travel fees are assessed on a case by case basis depending on the time of year, location, duration of coverage, etc. We handle all of our own travel arrangements unless otherwise specified.

  • Yes! We are big believers in the more eyes - the better. Having a second shooter, and even a third shooter, can make all of the difference in a well rounded gallery.

For example, while I'm focusing on formal family portraits, our second shooter is grabbing whimsical details of your reception space before dinner, and our third shooter is taking guests portraits at cocktail hour - documenting all the fun outfits (because what better gift to give a guest than a cute photo!).

  • Words to live by: If you, or someone you love, won't frame it, don't take it. My personal opinion is that you will cherish candid photos of you two interacting with your family and guests at cocktail hour over formal family photos. Typically we start with immediate families and any grandparents (if applicable).

In our pre-wedding questionnaire you will have the opportunity to provide a family photo list which can include any groupings outside of immediate family and grandparents. The questionnaire is also a great time to let us know about any special or unique family circumstances.

We always recommend limiting your family photo list to 6 to 8 groupings, not only for the sake of any time and lighting restrictions, but also to allow for you two to spend the maximum amount of time being present with your families and guests.

  • We are seasoned travelers. We arrive at least three to four days ahead of time before any wedding or pre-wedding session. This not only takes into account any flight delays, but also allows us time to settle in, do any venue walkthroughs, and any other pre-wedding prep work.

In the case that something keeps one of us from being there, we do have a team we can pull support from. While I, Kayti, am the lead and head behind Luna + Lion Photo Co - we have several associates and partners who have worked with us, and for us, for years. This means they know and are experienced in our style, our techniques, our branding, and most importantly - our client experience.

If the need arose, after being fully briefed on the day, timeline, and fine details, we would send a lead photographer or videographer from our team as a replacement.

  • We shoot both film and digital and are constantly adding to our gear collection. We currently utilize Canon mirrorless cameras as our mains. We also use multiple Pentax, Contax and Holga film cameras, depending on the environment. We always bring camera, lens, battery and memory card backups. All of our equipment is regularly serviced, updated and upgraded.

  • We deliver sneak peeks within 48 hours after your wedding and full galleries within six weeks of your wedding date.

Videography deliverables have an eight week turnaround time.
